The traffic spokesman from the Social Democrates, Magnus Heunicke, claims that the condor ring around Stockholm has been a success and also wishes to implement a condor ring around Copenhagen.
The objective of the condor ring is to reduce the congestion on the roads in Copenhagen. The original ambition in Stockholm was to reduce the traffic with 10 to 15% but after the first year, the traffic was reduced with 22%. Since then though, the number has decreased a bit. The latest measuring show a reduction in traffic on 20% since 2005. A traffic scientist therefore characterises the condor ring as a success, since less people drive in to Stockholm and the public transport has increased.
