The government has abandoned the project regarding road pricing in Denmark, says the Minister for Transport, Hans Christian Schmidt. From the beginning, it was a prerequisite that the Danish model could be establish on the model which the Dutch at that time were building up. However, since the Dutch chose to abandon their project, the government has not been willing to build up a Danish system.
Formally, the government’s work regarding road pricing is situated at the Ministry of Taxation and therefore not at Hans Christian Schmidt. The present Minister of Taxation has not officially declared the project for dead. The former Minister of Taxation stated, that the project has been abandoned yet, but that it has been postponed for 10-12 years at the yearliest.
